Sculptural silver, fewer but bolder pieces, and the remarkable story behind a bangle that could be made only 20 times.

Part One | Silver and the New Statement Piece

We have always loved statement jewellery.  After all, at the heart of our Something Blue story is our statement about our stand-out Ostro blue topaz. So, we are delighted to see statement jewellery making a confident return and witness a trend towards choosing just one or two distinctive pieces whose shape, materials and presence can transform an entire outfit.

In its 2026 jewellery trends forecast, British Vogue highlights renewed enthusiasm for sculptural designs and statement silver. With the price of gold rising sharply, silver’s growing appeal is perhaps unsurprising. But the attraction is also aesthetic: its cool lustre and contemporary character make it a compelling material in its own right. And it has always been our material of choice, and the cool colouring accentuates the brilliance of the blue.

This evolution is particularly evident in bangles. Professional Jeweller describes a move towards more architectural forms, cleaner silhouettes and considered styling. Rather than an accumulation of delicate bracelets, a single structured bangle makes a strong focal point of a look.

There is a certain confidence in this restraint: minimalist in its lines, yet unmistakable in its impact. A sculptural bangle can sit just as naturally against sharp tailoring as it can with a simple shirt or eveningwear. The point is not to follow a rule, but to wear something that expresses an individual sense of style.  And we are all about that!

Part Two | When Craftsmanship Determines Rarity

It is this balance between dramatic presence and clean design that inspired our new “One of a Kind” midnight black bangle. Originally conceived with men in mind, it has an equally striking appeal for women seeking a bolder style of bangle.

Made in sterling silver with hand-painted midnight black enamel, this bangle has an in-set captivating Ostro blue topaz. Its captivating blue is all the more arresting against the midnight black enamel surface. The design looks deceptively simple. Making it was anything but.

Producing such a substantial piece with the precise finish we required presented exceptional challenges. The casting had to be flawless, while applying enamel evenly across such a large surface demanded extraordinary care. Even the smallest imperfection meant beginning again, and numerous bangles had to be re-cast as the makers worked towards the standard we would accept.

The process proved so demanding that our manufacturer reluctantly made clear that production would have to be limited to just 20 pieces. This was not a number chosen simply to create exclusivity; it was the consequence of what it took to make the bangle.

At a time when jewellery is moving towards fewer, more expressive pieces, “One of a Kind” feels particularly fitting. With its sculptural black silhouette and vivid Ostro blue topaz, it is a statement piece made all the more remarkable by the craftsmanship required to bring it to life.
